Dwayne Johnson has played multiple roles in his life, almost all of them the heroic guy who saves the day without breaking a sweat. However, the WWE strongman decided to put his histrionic abilities to a real test… by playing a working mother.
Johnson has taken on a new role in his latest commercial for ZOA Energy drinks, and it’s not what you’d expect from the action star. In a hilarious video ad, The Rock transforms into a stressed remote-working mom, showcasing his comedic chops and proving that he’s not afraid to poke fun at himself.
The commercial, set to Latto’s hit « Big Energy, » features Johnson playing multiple roles, including an aerial acrobatics newbie, an overwhelmed working mom, and a surgeon. Each character is seen struggling with their respective tasks before magically transforming into Johnson, who effortlessly completes the tasks with focus and swagger.
We got The Rock from the 90s back
The ad aims to encourage people to channel their « Big Dwayne Energy. » According to Johnson-ZOA’s co-founder alongside his ex-wife Dany Garcia, her husband Dave Rienzi, and John Shulman-this involves quieting the noise and being your true, authentic self.
« I wanted to create a campaign where I could look as ridiculous as possible and put me in these ridiculous outfits and clothing that I would still have fun in, » laughs the actor.
Of all the parts The Rock played in the ad, his favorite was recreating his now-legendary ’90s look, which includes a black turtleneck, gold chain, mom jeans, and a fanny pack. Johnson stands next to himself dressed as ’90s Rock’ in the commercial, giving « some serious Big Dwayne Energy, » according to an onlooker.
The commercial will be featured across all platforms
The commercial will be featured in various platforms and marketing efforts throughout the year, including a partnership with the United Fooball League (UFL), influencer programming, social contests, seasonal promotions, and experiential pop-up moments.
« With ZOA Energy, everyone has access to ‘Big Dwayne Energy’ – the mindset of fearlessly owning who you are and unapologetically sharing your one-of-a-kind self with the world, » said Dany Garcia, Chief Visionary Officer.
« By embracing this mindset and fueling the body with ZOA, people not only feel energized but confident, bold, and determined to reach their full potential. »
